Cleaning different kinds of jewel
Cleaning your jewels is not always the same, the facts that a person has two or more kinds of jewels such as gold, silver and diamond which is commonly used. Silvers maybe cleaned using solutions to make it look shining as well as gold but what of diamond? Read along to find out the types of cleaning styles for different kinds of jewels.
Gold
Gold does not require an expensive solution just to be cleaned. Gold can be cleaned using a mixture of warm water and some dishwashing detergent such as JOY. Mix the two until bubbles form and by using a sponge, carefully wipe the gold with it. After that, try to wash the solution away with warm water and dry it using a dry cloth. Never use steel wools; it will just scratch the surface of your gold making its worth low.
Diamonds
It may confuse you, but diamond has a different way of cleaning than gold. Diamond can be cleaned using a right amount of warm water with a mixture of ammonia. (Yes, ammonia which is normally used for unconscious people to regain their consciousness) With this solution, use a soft bristled brush, if possible then use a toothbrush but be sure that no one is going to use the brush afterwards. After that, rinse it with warm water and just place it in a tissue and air dry it. The solution will not only clean the diamond but the silver setting or rather platinum setting as well.
Pearls
Try to use cotton swabs to clean them with a solution of mixture of warm water and small amount of JOY dishwashing liquid. Remember not to soak the pearls together with the strand that binds them. Why? It will just stretch the strand and the beads will look as if they are apart from each other. After that, dry it using air-dry. Leave it to dry overnight.
Silver
Silver is different from the rest because it has its own cleaning solution that is so different from the rest. When cleaning silvers, you don’t need water and soaps and other but instead all you need is a silver cleaning solution such as Goddard’s Silver Dip. Silver has its own solution in which it only effect when used in silvers and will never do any harm to other kinds of jewelry. When cleaning is done, make sure to wipe it with clean dry clothe to make it shine.
